On October 12, 2013, Actress Amy Adams walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new film, Spike Jonze's “Her at the 2013 New York Film Festival. The film will be released nationally on January 10, 2014.
The 39 year old actress arrived in nude pumps and a lavender tea-length (just below the knee) dress that had a bit of an edge to it- a very low cut neckline and some cutouts in the underarms. The dress received mixed reviews- some thought the dress was amazing, a “showstopper  while others called it a dud, as if she were shooting for sexy and missed.
My take on her look: I actually do not know how I really feel about the dress, because the way it is put together (to me) looks odd and visually unflattering. For starters, I do not like the long sleeves paired with the cutouts on top. If the dress were sleeveless or had cap sleeves it would look a lot better. Also, the thick horizontal stripe just above the hemline is very, very distracting. The dress already has a horizontal stripe around the waist, which actually works nicely wit the dress. Miss Adams also could have benefited from a necklace to accentuate the dramatic low cut bodice.
She also opted for a more dramatic hair and makeup look with this outfit, which also looked a bit odd to me. It was as if she were trying to be classy, ladylike, age-appropriate, and sexy and unfortunately missed.
Well, as they say, shoot for the moon and if you miss, you will still land among the stars.
